Design AI features in ways that offer contextual support
Social platforms, particularly dating apps, can often be overwhelming places. AI systems which offer contextual support to users or aid exploration may be good use cases for incorporating AI into social platforms.
For example, the mockup on the right from Grindr Bot shows how a bot could help people understand terminology.
Similarly, participants appreciated how the concept Suggested Topics (far right) could help them explore online content and learn more about being LGBTQ+.
Provide transparency over AI systems
Designers of AI-based features for social platforms should provide transparency to users, as we recommend in Give people transparency over the algorithms that present content to them, and be aware of the limitations of the models they rely on.
